Different and Creative Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas!

Different and Creative Valentine’s day gifts can be difficult to think of, but I think Valentine’s day isn’t a day for going gift giving mad. And I definitely don’t think that the size of the gift reflects the size of your love, hold your horses, bear with me.

You see, we don’t need gifts or material items to show how much we love each other, we just need someone that understands us and makes us feel good. Too often we underestimate the power of simply having someone that’s there for us. That said I totally get how good it feels to give gifts, it feels amazing and that’s awesome!

If you don’t know me very well you can by now probably tell that I enjoy the simple things in life, I love staying in and curling up on the sofa to our latest TV show (currently a mixture of things including, Marie Kondo – brill if you never need inspiration to clean and tidy!), going for walks along the river or heading off on a spontaneous trip to the seaside together. I also believe that love is love, it comes in all shapes and sizes, and we shouldn’t be limited to only romantic relationships for splashing the love. If you’re single this Valentine’s day grab a bestie and the below will still work!

Where am I going with this?

You see, I don’t think creative Valentine’s day gifts need to be over thought or over expensive, but should instead be something that reflects your loved one and your relationship. So I’ve come up with a few different and creative Valentine’s day gift ideas for what you can do for your lover this Valentine’s day. The gifts I’ve thought of are customisable to your relationship! Awesome huh?!

TOP TIP

Remember it’s not about splashing the cash on unwanted gifts, but reminding your partner why you guys are the most awesome couple and celebrating that. In your own, weird and unique way!

1. Jar of Moments, Memories, Dreams, Date nights

This is one of my favourites because you can do so much with it and put your own spin on it to take it in all sorts of directions.

  • A jar
  • Paper
  • Pens
  • Scissors

Here’s a few ideas to get you started.

  1. Positive Moments or Reasons Why You could write down all the reasons you love each other, and put them in the jar. Then you and your partner can always pull out a random reminder of why you love each other. This controversially also works great when you’re having a bit of an argument, pull out the positives and the reasons why you love them, and the argument won’t seem so bad anymore – positive vibes only woo!

  2. Goals, Wish List, Date Nights Write down the things you’d like to do together throughout the year, when you’ve got a free weekend, pull one out and do it! What a great way to keep the chaos organised and get the things done you’d really like to!

  3. Memories Write your favourite memories down and relive them when you want to. Add more fun – and add a photo to the memory to make it even more special when you get to relive it together!

2. Creative hamper!

Okay, awesome idea. Who thinks hamper? BORING! Sure I did too, but actually it’s awesome. So grab an empty hamper or basket, think of the things they like and fill it with them. Favourite films, sweets, food, crisps, home-made cakes or cookies (baking and hamper = double points!) new pyjamas, literally fill it with stuff they’ll LOVE and you’ll be in the good books for sure!

You’ll need:

  • An empty hamper or basket
  • Stuff they’ll love!
  • Your imagination and knowledge of your loved one

3. Dinner for two

This is where the two of you come into play, it could be going for a meal somewhere nice, cooking for them at home, treating yourselves to a take away or an M&S dine in for two with wine and dessert!

Now really you could do any of these and me and mine have done them all. But our ultimate favourite way to do dinner on Valentine’s day is with the annual KFC tradition! Yep that’s exactly right, who wants to go out to dinner this time of year? Everywhere’s so busy! We’d much rather drive through, come home, stuff our faces and spend time together!

So your take really, but M&S dine in for two is also pretty good!

4. Create a photo collage

Of course, there had to be a couple of photo related bits in here. After all I love photos! So I’ve left this one open as well, simply gather some of your favourite images, get them printed, buy a frame for them, or a pin board (I love a pin board!) and pin your favourite memories to the board and gift it to them. You can then go through and relive each memory. When you make new memories, you can take these and add them to your memory jar – genius! Though as time goes on you might need a bigger jar.

5. A photo shoot!

Shameless plug here, another photo related one. A photo shoot of you together, how much would you LOVE to get one done? How LONG has it been since you’ve said that you’d love one and it’s never happened?

The years go by and you get a little older each year and the high quality photo memories you could have had on the walls never come to fruition. I know this! We’re exactly the same! I’ve loads of great photos of him of course, but not so many of us together (this is something I REALLY need to rectify) I know I’ll regret putting it off because these times in our lives pass so quickly, we’ve already been living together for over FOUR years. That time flew by!

I hope you found some inspiration out of this post to show the ones you love them, the reasons you love them and keep it real, not material! If the perfect gift for you this year is a photo session, then of course I’d love to meet you, get to know what makes you the awesome unique couple you are and of course take some photos!
