Why my clients are the reason I do what I do – LNZPHOTO

A Few thoughts about why I do what I do.

When I set out to be a photographer, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to photograph, but just knew that I enjoyed the experience of creating a moment. I went to university to further study photography and I chose a course based on it’s focus on a variety of photography projects.

Even once I’d left university I hadn’t quite got it figured out. For the most part I’d avoided photographing people. I was too shy, nervous or scared to ask people to be my subjects. The only people I really photographed at that time were my boyfriend and my best friend, though they are still some of my favourite photographs.

My first wedding was in the summer after my final year of university, and after that more weddings slowly came my way. Friend of a friend, family member of a friend, a boss at a previous job, etc.

Photography has help me grow as a person, and helped me realise that capturing the best bits of peoples lives; whether it’s their wedding day, their families growth, their little furbabies, was what made it entirely worth it for me.

Weddings fit me because you get to do a bit of each type of photography. Still life for details, landscapes for venues, portraits for groups and couples and documentary for most of the day in between and capturing things as they unfold. Ultimately you’re focused on creating the best story you can for the bride and groom, without interfering too much in their day.

Now what I love the most, is the fact that we’re all not perfect and the relationship and connections we share are unique. In my eyes it’s our imperfections that make us who we are and make the photographs I capture all that more special.

THE PHOTOGRAPHIC STRUGGLE.

So I set off in the pursuit of a photographic struggle to chase my dream, because it’s not easy trying to build your passion into a business, let me tell you. It’s a lot of hard work. A lot of late nights and early mornings, not seeing my partner as often as I’d like to, and it can get stressful and lonely when you’re trying to do it all on your own.

But yesterday I received this email that nearly had me in tears. It’s basically a description of exactly what I want my photography business to say and do. It meant the world. It came at a time when I was having a slight meltdown. My slideshow software had an update, which in turn made all the things that worked before, stop working. Great! Then I read this…

“We haven’t stopped talking about you for the past 2 days about how perfect you were! We were so happy to have you as our photographer, we felt perfectly relaxed around you, we didn’t stop laughing all day, you had a sense of humour yourself and got involved in the jokes. You were able to talk to and get on with everyone and in the nicest way possible, we didn’t notice you were there most of the time. You weren’t ‘just’ a photographer but you helped *the bride* with calming down and were checking up on her throughout the day and evening, so thank you for that.”

Talk about perspective. Right. When. I. Needed. It. This email made me realise I was doing what I want to be doing with my business, I’d made the couple feel this way, I’d done a great job!

Essentially, I just want to thank all you lovely customers of mine for being you and allowing me to be me. Without you this feeling from reading that lovely email wouldn’t be possible! You guys are the reason I do what I do. So thank you for giving me the strength and confidence to chase my dreams.

If you’ve worked with me and haven’t left any feedback about the experience, I’d really love to know how I did. You can email me at [email protected] or leave a review on my Google page or Facebook page.

Thanks in advance you amazing lot.

A few updates…

Happy Anniversary!

July marked the one year wedding anniversary of Tina and Adam who were married at the lovely Parklands Quendon Hall last year! Their day was one of the hottest of 2018, but it was definitely one of the best as I’m sure these two will completely agree. The hot weather was only challenged by the very tiniest shower of rain, and the rest of the day was spot on for this amazing couple.

Wedding Fever!

These two beauts got married on the 3rd August at the lovely Hunton Park in Watford. What an amazing and emotional day, filled with love, laughter and a few tears. It was an emotional roller coaster that made me feel like I’d known these two for years. We were just old friends that had come together to celebrate their wedding whilst I took some awesome photos. I was so well looked after, I seriously felt like a guest with a camera – which is just so amazing, as that’s how I try to blend in! More on this amazing wedding soon!

WHAT ELSE HAS BEEN HAPPENING?

Kay & Dave wed on the 29th June at St Laurence Church before heading onto the Cheshunt Marriott for their celebrations. They secretly hired the Sing Along Waiters, which was a fantastic surprise for their guests. Read more about their wedding here…
