Vicky & Mary’s Tewin Bury Farm Hotel Wedding

One very hot April day, I had the pleasure of photographing Vicky & Mary’s wedding at Tewin Bury Farm Hotel. Giving that it was April, we were hopeful for a warm day, hopefully without any April showers. What we got was a scorcher of a day that ended in April thunderstorms. The day was so hot the cake melted, and the heavens opened up at exactly the right time. This was a wedding that brought two people together. And had me close to tears on more than one occasion.

Having known Vicky for a long time, it was both an honour and a pleasure to be a part of this day. We went  to university together and have remained really good friends ever since. Moving the wedding closer than planned, these two brides planned a relaxed day that celebrated their love beautifully.

Yep, The cake melted. But that didn’t stop us.

Unexpectedly hot for a day in April, we were blessed with a scorcher with enough cloud coverage that it wasn’t too hot. Unfortunately the same could not be said for the wedding cake, which disagreed with the hot April weather and melted! Luckily Mary’s mother had a back up cake with a little surprise inside. (Scroll down to the cake cutting photos to see the surprise!). That was a brilliant addition to the day. And it looked awesome.

Completely meant to be and regardless of the melting cake, Vicky & Mary didn’t let it get to them. Both brides walked down the aisle one after another at Tewin Bury Farm Hotel. Each looking amazing in dresses that coordinated so perfectly. (Even though they both had no idea what the other’s dress was like!). A tear jerking ceremony that had me balling behind the camera!

We now PRONOUNCE you Mrs & Mrs CALDER!

A day filled with emotions the ceremony was filled not only with happy tears, but also laughter when the officiant nearly pronounced the pair as husband and wife. However Vicky & Mary being the kindhearted, laid back pair that they are found this hilarious. In response they laughed, before sharing their first kiss as newlyweds.

And the emotional roller coaster didn’t stop there. Tear jerking speeches that acknowledged the amazing change of time that we can now celebrate two brides coming together freely, the children of the couple also getting up and making the most speeches about their kind and amazing mums. A melted cake didn’t stop these two, and I think you’ll be able to tell from the photos below how in love they are.

Leaving the wedding at the end of the night, I headed home to back up these photos in what can only be described as a perfectly timed thunderstorm. I couldn’t have asked for more. Thank you Vicky & Mary for trusting me to capture your special day.
