Smeetham Hall Barn Wedding Film
I wasn’t supposed to film this one. Originally I was meant to be helping Andy as his second shooter for the day. But instead I got to capture Helen & Darren’s Smeetham Hall Barn wedding videography.
Second shooting for a photographer generally means less pressure for me, as Andy takes the lead and I spend the time capturing photos that’ll compliment his.
But when the videographer fell ill the morning of, we were in a bit of a time sensitive predicament. I stepped in to film and we found another second photographer for the day.
It was change of pace, as I’d originally packed for photo. I had to charge my gimbal on route, and grab all my audio gear and quickly charge what I could.
Not An Ideal Start To Smeetham Hall Barn Wedding
Working in the wedding industry is fantastic. I’ve not met someone who does because they didn’t love it. Does that sentence make sense?
It’s not an easy industry, it takes your weekends, long days and long nights of work and yet, we do it because we frigging love it.
When someone rearranges childcare, changes their day plans to come and cover a wedding, it’s a beautiful thing. And that’s part of why I love doing what I do. (There’s way more to it than that, but that’s a story for another day.)
For Helen & Darren, it was a worrying start to the day, and one that would have sent many couples into a total (and understandable!) state of distress. But these two took it all in their stride. Something that quite easily could have added a ton of stress, but they accepted it for what it was and trusted us.
And we were able to create stunning coverage of their wedding day.
Bring the Doggos at Smeetham Hall Barn!
Surrounded by their wonderful family and friends, on a beautifully warm July weekday wedding, and aside from a slight worry in the morning, it all went off without a hitch.
Now not only do I love a barn wedding, but I’m also a dog lover. (K, sorry if you’ve heard that a hundred times!)
That said, I LOVE a when a wedding is made personal to the couple, and one thing that really makes that wedding unique, is when your furry friends come to join you!
Not only that, but there was a dog related reading during the wedding. Seriously, watch the highlight film below to see it, but you may want to have the tissues on standby!
Okay, so I had agreed to film this wedding, where I didn’t know a great deal about the couple (because I wasn’t the lead shooter) but it turned out to be a wedding so up my alley that I can only assume it was fate that brought us together!
And yes, that means Smeetham Hall Barn allow your doggos to come to the wedding, there’s a few rules but you can find more info on that, AND a bunch of other dog friendly wedding venues, by heading to my dedicated blog post below!
