Fun, Shenanigans and an epic party “Coz Sheena Said!” at Friern Manor
Sheena & John’s Friern Manor wedding started off looking a bit grim, the kind of Essex morning that makes you wonder if you’ll ever see the sun again.
But right on cue, just as Sheena was about to walk down the aisle, the clouds parted, and the weather brightened for this beautiful pair.
Their Friern Manor wedding was full of laughter, personality, and plenty of familiar faces.
Working with Sheena’s brother Dave a few years back, and photographing various family events for these guys, it was so awesome to see so many friendly faces.
From “Who’s John?” to “Coz Sheena Said!”
Some weddings are emotional, some are beautiful… and then some are just fun! Some are a little bit of all of that good stuff.
A few years back, I photographed Sheena’s brother Paul’s birthday, where no one had actually met John yet. Some even questioned if John was real!
Naturally, a family of jokers, they turned up wearing “Who’s John?” badges, excited at the prospect of meeting this unknown fella who had taken Sheena’s heart.
Fast forward to the wedding, and the “Who’s John?” badges had to go; John was firmly part of the family now! Instead, guests swapped them for badges reading “’Coz Sheena Said!”. Too right, I say!!
It was a small touch they probably didn’t think would make it to the wedding, but it was a part of their story. Laughter, inside jokes, and memories that will be talked about for years.
For me, this is exactly what wedding photography is about; not just capturing the big moments, but the little moments of personality and humour that make a day truly unique.
Fairy Light & Candlelit Proposal, with Champs!
Sheena and John first met at the Ardleigh pub in Hornchurch, some years before the proposal. Then lockdown happened, and while we were all stuck indoors, Sheena & John were making the most of it, with an unrelated (or so Sheena thought) romantic evening.
Sheena filled the room with fairy lights and candles, and John bought a massive bottle of champagne. What Sheena didn’t realise before John proposed, was there in his pocket sat a diamond ring.
And when he popped the question, there were few tears shed. Happy ones, of course!
Multiple Family Events!
Having known Sheena’s family for a while, it honestly felt more like spending the day with friends than working.
Their energy, the laughter, and the little moments and jokes in between made this one a real joy to capture.
Some of which included brother Dave coughing during the ceremony. Right at the bit where they ask for objections! Tsk. My brother would do entirely the same thing!
