What I learned during my Wedding Photography Assistant Role at The Reid Rooms, Essex, UK

Every Wedding is different…

Remember the two weddings I assisted at, well I told you all about one of them at Parklands Quendon Hall but I haven’t told you about the other; which was at The Reid Rooms. Well let me tell you. Two weddings. Two completely different weddings. Two completely different sets of challenges to face.

The first wedding was quite big and very well lit while the second venue was composed of smaller rooms, that were a lot more dimly lit. There were some areas we might have liked to go and take some pictures however the weather just wasn’t in agreement with us, so comprising with the bride and groom we tried a couple of other locations.

This wedding really made me realise that each and every wedding is completely different. The wedding at Parklands we had a lot of time to get group shots afterwards, and were done pretty quickly with some time to spare, this wedding we had less time and more photos to fit in so was pretty hectic! However given the time we had the shots were amazing.

“Photography is like a moment, an instant. You need a half-second to get the photo. So it’s good to capture people when they are themselves.” – Patrick Demarchelier

The Parklands wedding covered getting ready -> first dance in 7 hours, the Reid Rooms Wedding covered getting ready -> first dance in just 5 1/2 hours! I learned a lot, and it was great to see a pro at work and learn directly. Great experiences from two absolutely beautiful venues, both of which I recommend entirely!

The Reid Rooms is compromised of lots of smaller rooms that were “built nearly 200 years ago originally as stables for the working horses on Marks Hall Farm” – www.thereidrooms.co.uk. They have such a uniqueness to them.

Again, I can’t wait to do more. Hopefully some pictures for you guys soon too! <3
